Stochastic resonance driven by time-modulated correlated white noise sources
We analyze the effects caused by the simultaneous presence of correlated additive and multiplicative noises for stochastic resonance. Besides the standard potential modulation we also consider a time-periodic variation of the correlation between the two noise sources. As a foremost result we find that stochastic resonance, as characterized by the signal-to-noise ratio and the spectral amplifica...
متن کاملFeature Binding Through Temporally Correlated Neural Activity in a Robot Model of Visual Perception
An agent performing a task in an environment must be able to selectively attend to visual stimuli. This ability is of critical importance for adaptive behavior in (vision-based) biological and artificial agents. In this paper we present a connectionist model of how visual attention can serve an agent to perform its task. The model is embedded in a mobile robot. Visual stimuli are segregated by ...
متن کاملCorrelated noise in a logistic growth model.
The logistic differential equation is used to analyze cancer cell population, in the presence of a correlated Gaussian white noise. We study the steady state properties of tumor cell growth and discuss the effects of the correlated noise. It is found that the degree of correlation of the noise can cause tumor cell extinction.
متن کاملA neural mass model of CA1-CA3 neural network and studying sharp wave ripples
We spend one third of our life in sleep. The interesting point about the sleep is that the neurons are not quiescent during sleeping and they show synchronous oscillations at different regions. Especially sharp wave ripples are observed in the hippocampus. Here, we propose a simple phenomenological neural mass model for the CA1-CA3 network of the hippocampus considering the spike frequency adap...
متن کاملModeling Brain Resonance Phenomena Using a Neural Mass Model
Stimulation with rhythmic light flicker (photic driving) plays an important role in the diagnosis of schizophrenia, mood disorder, migraine, and epilepsy. In particular, the adjustment of spontaneous brain rhythms to the stimulus frequency (entrainment) is used to assess the functional flexibility of the brain. We aim to gain deeper understanding of the mechanisms underlying this technique and ...
